Mbelwa Edwin Rwegerera

My name is Mbelwa Edwin Rwegerera, and I am a fourth-year student at Sokoine University of Agriculture, pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Medicine. I recently participated in the 2024 Tenkai Online Course, a program running from 2023 to 2024, focused on Japanese agricultural practices and advanced technologies in agriculture and nutrition for food and nutrition improvement in Africa.

This experience has had a significant impact on my life, equipping me with the knowledge and skills to ensure that animal products, such as milk and meat, meet safety and quality standards in my veterinary practice. I have applied this knowledge by educating my community on the nutritional benefits of animal-sourced foods and promoting their inclusion in meals to combat malnutrition and improve food and nutrition security.

In the future, I plan to establish an institution dedicated to educating African communities on the importance of a balanced diet and providing practical support to ensure animal products are safe for consumption. I aspire to contribute to the recovery of individuals suffering from malnutrition and to foster a healthier community.
