Kaparo Daniel Kuntayo

Farm Manager and Agronomist at Grazers Barn

My name is Kaparo Daniel Kuntayo, an alumnus of Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) and the Tenkai Program. With a bachelor’s degree in horticulture, I am currently a farm manager and agronomist at Grazers Barn, a herbs production farm in Kenya, where I have worked for the past 18 months.

I recently completed the online course Overview of Japan Agriculture and Technologies for Food and Nutrition Improvement in Africa (December 2022 – March 2023). This experience deepened my understanding of the SDGs and food security, motivating me to improve my community’s quality of life.

In the past year, I have focused on producing high-quality herbs and spices in a challenging, perishable industry. Through the Tenkai Program, I’ve developed essential skills in quality control and waste reduction to reduce post-harvest losses. I aspire to continue my learning in Japan to advance these skills and make a positive impact on food security in Africa.
