Joyline Cheptoo
Agripreneur, community developer
Participating in the 2021 ISS Tokyo NODAI Summit was a transformative experience, providing invaluable exposure and networking opportunities. Connecting with scholars and peers who share a commitment to sustainable agriculture and community development expanded my perspective on global agricultural practices and food security solutions. The summit’s focus on integrating actions, research, and education in agricultural value chains to achieve sustainability enriched my knowledge and sparked new ideas.
The connections I built offer ongoing mentorship and potential partnerships, supporting my efforts to scale community projects. Applying ISS insights, I’ve introduced climate-resilient farming practices to my community, empowering women through mushroom farming projects to improve food security. The exposure to diverse methods has also helped me enhance training programs to reflect best practices from ISS.
Looking forward, I plan to use the knowledge and networks gained to expand my work, advocate for sustainable policies, and mentor others in community-based agriculture, all while driving impactful change in food resilience.
