Genes Honory Tarimo

Student at SUA

I am currently a student at Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Rural Development. Previously, I worked as an Agricultural Officer in Kishapu District, Shinyanga, Tanzania, and served as an Area Coordinator for the Food Security and Hunger Reduction Project in Kishapu, funded by NORAD-Norway. I recently participated in an online course on food systems and dietary habits, conducted by SUA, JKUAT, and Tokyo University of Agriculture. This experience has significantly impacted my life and community. Through the lectures from Tokyo NODAI professors, I have improved my dietary habits and now maintain a balanced diet, which has enhanced my health and body weight (BMI). The availability of nutrients from diverse plant species has reduced my reliance on store-bought vegetables, saving money. I actively share this knowledge with local farmers and fellow students. My goal is to increase awareness and provide training to farmers on nutrition and dietary habits, promoting food and nutrition security.
