Sospeter Mkombo Notker
Student: BSc. Forestry at SUA
My name is Mkombo Sospeter Notker, a BSc. Forestry student at Sokoine University of Agriculture. From September 2023 to August 2024, I participated in a long-term exchange program and Tenkai online course at Tokyo NODAI, which greatly enriched my academic and personal skills. The program, supervised by Prof. Sato and supported by the Central Global Initiatives (CGI), helped me strengthen my time management, leadership, and problem-solving abilities. I gained valuable knowledge in innovation, cultural preservation, environmental conservation, and natural resource management.
Applying this knowledge, I addressed urban nutrition challenges, particularly obesity, by advising on healthy eating and promoting physical activity like hiking. Additionally, I worked on forest wildfire detection and reporting to help prevent fire damage. Despite some program challenges, I am committed to advancing wildfire detection methods. In the future, I plan to pursue research in wildfire monitoring, tackle nutrition-related obesity issues, and initiate community projects to reduce unemployment and support street children.
